Sexual Harassment
Sexual
harassment is a form of sex discrimination that violates Title VII of the
Civil Rights Act of 1964. An employee who has been subjected to unwelcome
sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical
conduct of a sexual nature may have a claim for sexual harassment when such
conduct has the purpose or effect of unreasonably interfering with an
individual's work performance or creating an intimidating, hostile, or
offensive working environment.
If you
have suffered from sexual harassment in the workplace, it is always to your
benefit to speak with a knowledgeable sexual harassment attorney. You are
entitled to a remedy that will place you in the position you would have
been in if the sexual harassment had never occurred. If you win your case,
you may be entitled to rehiring, promotion, reinstatement, back pay, and
other remuneration. You may also be entitled to damages to compensate you
for mental and emotional anguish, work stress, and inconvenience. Punitive
damages may be available, as well, if an employer acted with malice or
reckless indifference. You may also be entitled to attorney's fees.
